A comprehensive eye examination is suggested for those of all ages, even for those who seemingly have perfect vision. During a comprehensive examination, the patient’s eyes will be dilated so Dr. Wise can more thoroughly examine the health of the interior of the eye. Dilation usually takes 15 to 45 minutes, and lasts 2 to 3 hours. It is completely safe to drive after dilation. After the interior and exterior health of the eye is examined, a prescription for glasses will be obtained. By choosing the lens that provides the clearest vision whilst reading the chart, Dr. Wise can then prescribe glasses for the patient, though not everyone will need them.
